My jewelry journey began the day I set out to recreate the delicate floating pearl-and-chain necklace Rene Russo wore in the movie Tin Cup. I’d always been crafty—sewing as a child and working with clay in my father’s pottery studio—so I taught myself to wire-wrap a strand of freshwater pearls. I became obsessed, making pieces for friends and family, and before long that passion turned into a business.
A few years later I discovered Precious Metal Clay: a soft clay that when fired in a kiln turns to metal. Sculpting charms and tokens felt familiar, like working with porcelain, and the finished pieces had an ancient, talismanic quality I loved. Eventually I moved into wax carving, which lets me sculpt organic, rough‑hewn shapes and finely carved details to set with pearls and gemstones. The ancient lost‑wax casting process is forgiving and flexible and I can cast in a variety of metals, favoring yellow bronze for its warm, 14k gold hue and affordability.
I design and create earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings, forever using my beloved pearls. I work quietly in my backyard studio in Southern California, each piece hand-made with love, designed to be worn daily, and treasured always.
